This scheme in Dublin, designed by Plus Architecture and installed by Shaffrey Landscapes, was completed in spring 2018. The challenging site conditions allowed for only a very constrained planting space between the foundation slab of the high rise building and the service runs located in the footpath. Small cutouts in the slab were provided to create the tree pits and StrataCells were used to link the tree pits together to provide high-quality rooting volume in the space available

This development includes exclusive apartments, high-end retail outlets and a five-star leisure complex. Consisting of three stunning buildings connected by a new pedestrian street, healthy tree planting was central to the success of the scheme.

The site was constrained by below-ground utilities and the concrete slab over the basement car parking area, leaving a narrow trench for tree rooting establishment. The GreenBlue Urban StrataCell product was chosen due to the high structural loading capacity and the ability to adapt to constrained areas. The StrataCells were also used on the roof levels to support tree planting, giving all of the trees the best opportunity to succeed for the benefit of all.
