Greenleaf Ireland supplied and manufactured key landscape edging elements for the City Quays Gardens project, helping to define the planting areas and contribute to the scheme’s high-quality public realm finish. 

A total of approximately 830 linear metres of 100/150mm Fort Steel Landscape Edging was supplied, powder-coated in RAL Mars Sable 2525 to complement the wider landscape palette. The edging was installed throughout the gardens to create clean, durable boundaries between planting beds, pathways and hard landscape elements, providing long-term performance within this busy waterfront environment. 

In addition, Greenleaf Ireland designed and fabricated 30 linear metres of bespoke Planterline edging from 3mm steel plate. Manufactured to a height of 450mm with a folded top edge for strength and a refined finish, the edging was custom curved to follow the complex geometry of the project’s contoured stone planter islands. Precise fabrication was essential to ensure seamless integration with the curved stonework and surrounding planting areas, achieving the exact alignment required by the landscape design team. 

To maintain a consistent visual appearance across the scheme, the bespoke Planterline units were powder-coated in the same RAL Mars Sable 2525 finish as the Fort edging. The result is a cohesive landscape detailing solution that complements the gardens’ contemporary character while providing robust, low-maintenance performance. 

Set amongst sculptural seating, commissioned artworks and the illuminated Gateway Nest installation, the edging systems play an important role in defining the gardens’ flowing planting forms and reinforcing the project’s distinctive identity as a vibrant green destination within Belfast’s City Quays waterfront development.
